PUSHCART PRIZE NOMINATION

I'm thrilled to share that my poem Industry City has been nominated by my publisher, Broadstone Books for a Pushcart Prize .  Industry City is included in my collection Do Not Return and was first published with Curlew Quarterly.

READING WITH MARINE CORNUET ON OCTOBER 23

Marine Cornuet and I will be reading from our recently published books at Lizzie King's Parlor in Park Slope on October 23. My poem "Night of Joy" was a finalist in the Brooklyn Poets Walt Whitman Bicentennial contest and is now in Fell Swoop #160. Click Read More or the three dots to see the full poem! The epigraph says: I can't describe the pleasure meeting you last night. I'm enjoying the lack of description.

Thoughts While Contemplating Trees in Green-Wood was among the poems published in Fell Swoop. They changed the format of the poem, so this is a shot from my publisher's PDF of my manuscript for Do Not Return that will go to the printer soon. 

FINALIST IN BROOKLYN POETS' WHITMAN BICENTENNIAL CONTEST

I'm excited to be a finalist in the Brooklyn Poets Whitman Bicentennial Contest, judged by Mark Doty, Tina Chang, and Rowan Ricardo Phillips. The celebration on May 31 will feature readings from the winners (including my friend and Sweet Action member Marietta Brill) and the judges. More on the winners and celebration on May 31 here.

LE BONHEUR

I just learned that Agnès Varda died today. The last time I saw one of her movies was at the Museum of the Moving Image, on an unhappy date. But the movie was exquisite. The poem I wrote in the aftermath was published at Rascal  - it is the second poem scrolling down . 

Curlew Quarterly Winter Issue Coming Up in March 2019

I will have two poems in the next issue of Curlew Quarterly Review, Industry City and a vignette from my Dispatch from Buenos Aires series, Sur/South . (Two others, Inundación/Flood and Inseguridad/Insecurity were included in the recent No, Dear Diaspora issue.) In the meantime, check out my fellow poets who were featured in previous Curlew issues ! 

PASSING ON THE LIGHT

Passing on the Light at Stanton Street Shul: I will be co-hosting and performing at t his Auschwitz Liberation Day event , together with singer-songwriter Lori Leifer and poet Iris Tillman, on January 27th, 2019. I will be reading a few poems from my forthcoming collection "Do Not Return" (Broadstone Books 2019), Lori will be sharing Yiddish songs from her amazing repertoire, and Iris will be reading from her chapbook "All this Happened Long Ago, It Happens Now."
